When I ask someone do they want to get saved, I'm not asking them to sign a piece of paper or walk to the front of a church. I'm not asking them if they want to just learn all about this guy named "Jesus" or join a church and become an active church member. What I"m talking about is becoming someone who has experienced the actual living presence of God in their life and heart and knows that God is real and alive; someone who has experienced the power of God's forgiveness and grace and lives daily in His presence; someone who knows the victory of life and can now experience the joy and peace of life regardless of what type circumstances surround them on a daily basis.
Seven Steps to Salvation
First of all, there are not seven things you've got to do to be saved, however, there are seven decisions one makes when he or she chooses to become a Christian follower of Jesus Christ. Each of these decisions make a huge difference in being either strong or weak in ones life and walk with God. So, how does one become a Christian and a strong follower of God? The Bible teaches us that we must make certain choices in our acceptance of God, or our spiritual lives and relationships with God will not be strong. Matthew 13: 3-9.
How Can You Be Saved?
1. Answer the Call of God. (Matthew 4:19). God is always calling us to come and follow Him. We must respond to His voice because we want to answer His call. We do not respond because it's something everyone else is doing or because it might make us look better to others. Jesus stands and calls your name to come and follow Him. (John 10:2-5). Many people have given testimony how that at church services they felt their heart being tugged and pulled by God to give their life to Him. He is calling for, "If you will hear His voice" Hebrews 3:7.
2. Believe. (John 3:16) We must believe two things about Jesus Christ. First, we must believe that He is the ONLY begotten Son of God. What difference does this make? The only price that could pay for our sin(s) was pure sinless blood. (Hebrew 9: 13,14) NO human has ever been born pure from sin except one, that was Jesus Christ, because He was born of God through the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 1:20). If Jesus was not who He said He was the Son of God, then His blood was not able to purge our souls from sin. (II Corinthians 5:21) Second we must believe that it is His blood alone that cleanses us from our sin. We can never overcome our sin by being good enough by doing enough "good" works to atone for our sins. It takes the shedding of blood and death to atone for sin. (Romans 6:23) It was Jesus Christ's work on the cross that did both of these works for us.
3. Repent. (Matthew 4:14) One of the most important doctrines of Christ was repentance. He came forth preaching repentance for the Kingdom of God. Repentance is more than just being sorry for your past mistakes or "feeling bad" because of bad choices made. Repentance means you want a second chance to do things right. It means
